School of Rock - I love Jack Black. I am Jack Black. Unfortunately, Mr. Black has not bben properly utilized in film to this point. Oh, sure, he was great in High Fidelity, and that's because they used his snarkiness to his advantage. Films that followed, like Shallow Hal or the miserable Orange County didn't use those talents at all. School of Rock, however, is perfect for him. It HAD to have been written with him in mind, because it was so perfect for him. And in addition to the very good Jack Black and some funny (if somewhat formulaic) writing, there's also some pretty decent music and real live performing kids. I wonder if the bass player has a big sister? ANYWAY, my point is that if you use Mr. Black correctly, he'll be funny and make me happy. Yay for me happy! Joey gives School of Rock three-point-five stars out of four and kills a yak from 200 yards... with mind bullets .

By the way, the Tenacious D: The Complete Master Works dvd will be out November 4th. It includes a full concert, all six episodes of their HBO show, videos, and other stuff. Yay!

I saw Moulin Rouge for cheap in Target the other day, that's what got me thinking about it... I have to keep you at least a LITTLE American, even if it is by using Australian-directed movies that take place in France with English and Australian actors.
