How I spent my 4th.
Jul. 5th, 2002 04:10 pmOn the 3rd I went into the city to see Rueben Waters Loves You at The Note. I've seen them several times before, and every time I see them I like them more. They have one song (I think it's called "You Keep Me Around") that is really really good. Easily my favorite. Opening for them was Melissa Rose Zeimer, who I enjoyed thoroughly. As a matter of fact, i think I might have been to only one in the bar listening to her. Just a girl and her guitar and really good songs and a really good voice. Oh, and one of those bandanas in her hair that I should add to my list of improper fetishes. Finished the night watching Tonya completely absorbed with old friends she hadn't seen in a while. It was good to see her so very happy. She pointed out a week or two ago that we're very different, and I disagreed and said that we weren't THAT different. Now I completely agree with her. I think Tonya at the Green Mill with all of her friends is the Tonya that Tonya wants to be all the time. Now I see why she hates the suburbs so much: She's 100% city girl. It's amazing to me that we ever clicked at all.
On the fourth, I dragged myself out of bed far earlier than I would have liked (I got into bed at 4:45am after almost falling asleep 1000 times on the drive home). I was up at 8:00 and went to my friend Teresa's house, where we then went on to see her family (the whole family is like my Chicago Family, since all my relatives live in Michigan or Wyoming). Went to a parade, where I got sunburned. I'm not a big fan of parades. Maybe one every ten years would be good. There doesn't seem to be a lot of advances in parade technology from year-to-year. So, my forehead got sunburned. Went back to the family's house where I played with their WONDERFUL neice and nephews and ate some really good knockwurst. Decided it was time to go home, and on the drive home had some stomach problems that I shan't elaborate on.
Came home and took a nap, then went to see Sonic Voodoo. They weren't as good as normal, but they were still better than most bands. Heard a great idea for a movie about The Flash. "He knows a way." Combine the band with being surrounded by really great friends, and I can't think of any place I'd rather be. Hope y'all liked the cookies. :)
Slept, woke up and thought I was awake, then fell asleep in my chair which I am clearly MUCH to large to sleep in. And now I'm here with you. I think I'll order some Chinese food now.
