The Wednesday Ten

1. Thanks to huskerdude, I'm now lusting for the dvd of Fishing with John. I put in a bid on ebay for a used copy.


2. By the way, I won an ebay auction for the Il Postino dvd. only $24 shipped, which is still $10 cheaper than anywhere else I've found it.


3. I also bought a Seven Samurai poster (Japanese, it kicks all ass). On ebay


4. I forgot how addictive ebay is.


5. Driving into the city tonight is going to absolutely blow chunks. The fireworks are tonight, the taste (which I've never been to) is going on, it's a holiday weekend (for all intents and porpoises), and I'm going to the part of the city where parking sucks the most. But I want to see the band and hang out with Tonya again. I'm weird that way.


6. Tonya and I went into the city to see friends and listen to a band that her friend Tom Ray is in, and no one showed up. Including Tom Ray. Everyone officially sucks, but we still love you. See all you Chicagoans on Thursday (which I like to call "tomorrow"), right? RIGHT? If not, you will be hunted and skinned.


7. I am a fucking moron. I mean, I do a lot of moronic things (which Tonya encourages by hugging me and calling me cute), but last night takes the cake. I put a zip-tie on my thumb. You know, one of those little plastic things that does a really great job of gettting tighter but is lousy at letting go. So I zipped it around the base of my thumb while riding in Tonya's car. She thought it was a good idea to just wear it to the bar and let them cut it off, but I didn't want to look like a moron in front of strangers, so I basically just kept working at it until i was finally able to slide it over my knuckle. It hurt and scraped a lot, but my thumb is all better now. I'm a moron with no permanant damage.


8. Thank Jeebus they're bringing back the Fat Bastard character in the new Austin Powers. I wasn't offended enough the last time. Look at that fat person, eating everything in sight and being generally disgusting! He wants to eat babies, that fatso! Look how ugly and unattractive he is! Fat people suck. Oh, that's funny stuff. Spread the message to the kids! Fat people suck!


9. The Royal Tenenbaums dvd comes out next Tuesday. That's a big yay.


10. Tonya said that with three weeks of training she could do my job. When I was offended, she said that it was okay because she didn't WANT to do my job. So now I have a crappy easy job.

Things you probably don't care about (hockey)

Reports are that the Detroit Red Wings have signed Chris Chelios for two years at $6.5 million a season (a million more than last season, but a lot less than the Rangers would have paid him). I now feel that the Wings have the pieces in place to make another STRONG run at the Cup. They need a coach (I think one of the assistant coaches from last year will be stepped up (probably Dave Lewis)) and to sign some restricted free agents the already have, and hopefully not lose too many people when rosters are trimmed, but tehy shold be in good shape. I think they'll make a run at Bill Guerin, but if they get him they'll have to trade Luc Robitaille to bring the payroll down some. I think Luc would be good to trade anyway. Get a mid-level d-man for him, maybe one who's a group II free agent.

Now we could have bought $100 worth of puddin', and that would have been... a lot of puddin'.

Another Fucking List

1. Tonya gets along well with my work friend Chris (not to be confused with her boss, Cris). I like that they get along.


2. Chris and I went to a not-very-close-by sushi restaurant for lunch. Was good. Didn't overeat like I usually do with sushi.


3. Tonya loaned me her A3 album and insisted that I like it, going so far as to threaten to not like me any more if I didn't. Me, being quite confident in her judgement, ripped the whole album before listening to a single note.


4. I was doing this Boggle-like game on my Sony Clie today, and I found the names soda, rasa, and fran all in one puzzle. I take that as a sign that they should visit Chicago.


5. I just realized that Fran spelled backwards is NARF!


6. Digging A3 so far...


7. I'm wearing an Oscar the Grouch t-shirt and I don't care who knows.


8. I got outbid on the previously mentioned used Fishing with John dvd and it is now out of the reasonable price range. Someday.


9. I might go home early today.


10. We had the 240. We HAD to have the puddin'. Awwwwwww yeah.
