Documenting more poor awards.

So, as I said, I watched the Oscar winning documentary for 2001, Murder on a Sunday Morning. It was a fine story, but not really that much as a documentary. It's exactly what I would expect for an HBO documentary. As a matter of fact, the ones I've seen on HBO in the last few weeks are just as good. It's a shame that this film won over some great documentaries I saw in 2001, like Startup.com or The Endurance or Go Tigers! who weren't even nominated (but were nominated for Independant Spirit Awards). They probably weren't even considered because the documentary category is just a joke. It's the worst joke in the Oscars (except this year when LOTR's score sucked it's way to a statue).

I haven't seen a movie in the theater in more than two weeks. And with ChiDope coming up, it might be a whole 'nother week before I do.

The lovely nymysys has decided to throw an after Chi-Dope party at her (and vileorb's) place in Chicago on Saturday night. So we ChiDopers can go to Timmy O'Tooles and drink for a little while, and move to nymmy's where the beer is FREE because they have a full-sized keg just waiting for us all. The keg is free, it's BYOB after that. The party will start kind of late (official time to be determined) will undoubtedly run until 6am or later.

Horrible news

My dvd player is broken! NO! IT CAN'T BE! Now I'll have to buy another one, and I can't wait until the 15th, so I'll just buy one, oh let's say... tomorrow. I didn't want my rent to be on time anyway.

I took it apart. the motor that spins the disk won't spin. That's not very fixable. I'm sure sony could swap out the component, but it'd probably cost as much as a new player.
