(no subject)

The front walk is done. Done enough, at least. the last row of stone wouldn't fit due to jagged concrete that couldn't be removed lest the front steps fall down. So I filled it with paver base, because FUCK IT.

I still need to put in the finishing sand, but that'll wait for dry weather. Also, it's unlevel, about a half-inch lower than it should be, and uneven. I like to call it "rustic", which implies that I meant to do it that way.

I'm hungry. Time for lunch!

The Hemlock-Wilder Scale

I've invented a scale. It's the Hemlock-Wilder Scale of Musical Preference. It is a measure of whether one's musical preferences are generally more influenced by the lyrics or by the music/beat/tune. The scale goes from M+5 (strongly influenced by the music) to 0 (both equally) to L+5 (strongly influenced by the lyrics).

I'm putting myself as a M+4. I usually care a lot more about the music than the lyrics. Case in point: The gypsy-jazzy-hip-hop-swing music video that I can't stop watching, despite the fact it's in Swedish. Sure, there are some things where the lyrics are the primary reason I like the song (novelty songs, for instance), but in general, it's the music.
