Dec. 4th, 2005 03:30 amWell, I'm back in good 'ol Chicago, even if it is for only a couple of days. And I now have the mileage and the segments to have American Airlines Platinum status. So that"s good.
It's been a long day. I have been up for 29 hours, but I'm about to go crash. The flight from Hannover to London Gatwick was quick and fine, the transfer to Heathrow wasn't bad, and the flight from Heathrow to Chicago was pleasant enough thanks to having a whole 777 row to myself (though I couldn't sleep, which made for a long 9 hours). The bad part came after I landed. We all cleared immigration, and then we were stuck in the baggage claim area between immigration and customs for TWO HOURS because they couldn't get the luggage door open. This was especially aggravating because I had a date waiting for me on the other side of the wall. Yes, I went right from the two week trip to a date. She was kind enough to pick me and my copious luggage up at the airport, but I don't think she knew she was getting into a two-hour wait PLUS a snowstorm.
The date was fun. We went to a bar near here and hung out and drank gin and tonics and talked about music, movies, what I do for a living, and other stuff like that. T'was a good night, but now I need SLEEP.
Tomorrow, it's games and seeing Nancy and Paul and THE MOO!
