If you haven't done so yet, you should give money to [livejournal.com profile] laughingirl's fund raiser for Breast Cancer. She's trying to raise $25,000 and she's almost there and you should give her some. Even $5 helps, of course. Lisa works hard hard hard to raise money for this ("She works haaaaaaard for the money, duh dum, duh dum!") and even walked the equivalent of twelve marathons in an effort to raise money. So help her out, huh?

Make a donation here. I'll send anyone who makes a donation some Genuine Moo-Cow Hair, unless you're allergic to the dander of bovine/feline hair, in which case I'll send it to you if you DON'T donate. Supplies are limited (limited to my clothes, usually). Act now!

I bought the NHL Center Ice package on my cable system earlier this week, which means I can see most of the NHL games if I choose to. It's worth it for the Red Wings games alone, although I've been noticing that I check in at the end of games in the hopes that it'll be tied so I can see OT (exciting) or a shoot-out (more exciting). I've seen two shootouts so far; Vancouver/Edmonton and last night's Rangers/Islanders shootout (which made me extra happy because Jagr broke his stick trying a wrist shot).

Anyway, hockey makes me happy, at least until the Wings get eliminated by some up-start team in the first round.

Edited to Add: On mandatory visors: I don't think the league should mandate that players wear visors. It's a hot-button issue right now after Mats Sundin of the Maple Leafs and Kris Draper of the Red Wings both got hit in the eye with pucks in this barely-started season (see Draper's eye here). But, no, I don't think they should be required. However, if you don't wear one, you're an idiot.

How do fights happen if people are wearing visors? Drop the gloves and then shuck off the helmet, I guess. Most of the players wear their helmets so loosely strapped that it wouldn't be that hard.

I have run a simulation on my PSP that I like to call "Madden '06". This intense simulation has resulted in a prediction for the upcoming Detroit Lions/Cleveland Browns game: Detroit will win 126 to 7. 56 of those points will be scored in the 3rd quarter. Joey Harrington will throw for 550 yds and 9 TDs. Kevin Jones will rush fir 426 yards and 8 TDs (and have 146 receiving yds and another 3 TDs). Two other players will also have 100+ yds. in receiving. Jones will also rush for a TD with 13 seconds left, then the Lions will do an on-side kick and pop in another one as time expires.

It's science. You can't dispute it.

I fly to Grand Rapids MI tomorrow morning, then back tomorrow afternoon/evening. It's only 4 or 5 hours, so I COULD drive, but I'd rather fly and save the time. It's about a wash for the customer on costs either way (probably a little cheaper with flying, what with the $75/hour travel costs we charge.

Wow! I just watched the end of the Leafs/Hurricanes game... The Leafs blew a two-goal lead, so it went to OT. Then a powerplay in OT for the Leafs. Then a short-handed breakaway for Brind-A'mour of the Canes, stone by Belfour (ugh, still hate him). Then The Leafs come back and score with 13 seconds left in the OT. Exciting end-to-end stuff. I'd've liked to have seen a shootout, but it was still a great finish.
