George Saunders knows me.

I think the thing I like about George Saunders' short stories (he's the author of that story Jon I'm always rambling about) is that I can relate to the protagonist so well. They're always powerless schmoes just looking to make their place and be happy. Here's an example of a short passage from The 400-Pound CEO (from his collection CivilWarLand in Bad Decline):

So, what to say?

• I think I really really hurt a very dear friend and I feel like shit about it.


• I'm reading and thoroughly enjoying Portnoy's Complaint. It's like a heterosexual Jewish David Sedaris book, but fiction. Loving it.


• NYC pictures will be ready for public viewing tomorrow, with luck.


• pucette liked Ween. I played Chocolate and Cheese for her, and she seemed to genuinely like it. I'm still a little taken aback by that; normal people don't like Ween.


• My sister will be visiting at the end of this week.


• Just a Gigolo has been going through my head all day. "Won't some pretty momma come and take a chance on me, 'cause I ain't so bad..."


• I should do a poll. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe not.


• That's it for now, I think.


• Edited to add: OH! Basil-roasted chicken with roasted red peppers and creamy goat cheese on a crusty baguette = AMAZING sandwich. I got mine at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC.

Testing part two

Testing a different client (tapjam). With this one you can set mood and security level. I think I prefer it for just that reason. Other than that, there isn't much difference between the two. I wish I could get the java one to work.
