(no subject)

got my computer back, minus a whole bunch of software that was apparently determined to be contraband. They're just doing their job, of course, but what's WinAmp hurting on my PC? What's the big deal about mIRC (which I only use when connected through my personal dial-up account (which they didn't remove))? Semagic is gone, though I think it will make a re-appearance soon. AIM, too.

In other news, I'm extrememly agitated today. I'm not happy about ANYTHING. I have therepy this afternoon, and I don't want to go. Another 45 minutes of me talking out of my ass. Pointless. But I'll go anyway, I guess, because it gets me away from my boss for an hour.

Movie Reviews: Max, About Schmidt (revisited)

Max - A film about what might have been, I suppose. This is about Adolph Hitler after he was a soldier in WWI, when he dabbled in both art and then politics as well. Interesting little film. I wonder how true it is. Noah Taylor as Hitler is great. John Cusack as his (Jewish) art dealer was decent. Joey gives Max three stars out of four.

About Schmidt (revisited) - I love this movie. My first review is here. I completely stand by this fours star review. Even though I'm less than half the age of the protagonist, I completely relate with him. What difference has my existence made? The magic and tragic question. In addition, this movie has some great humor and wonderful characterizations. Love it love it love it; it'll be one of my top five this year, for sure. The wedding is my nightmare: schmaltzy songs and silly readings, poofy bridesmaid dresses and bad speeches. Ugh.

Hey Chicago People!

Okay, something to put on your calendar: Mike Lukas, stand-up comedian and former host of The Straight Dope television show, is going to be at Zanie's on Wells street from Feb. 18th through the 23rd. Who wants to go? A weekday show (Thursday night?) is fine, Friday and Saturday are also fine. Any day is fine. I might just go and see him multiple times. He is funny funny funny, and his show is different every time. I'm excited to think of what new material he must have! I used to stalk him, sort of. I promise you that you'll enjoy his comedy. I promise.
