I have narrowed down my list of things I could accomplish today; I could either get work done, or I could write a LiveJournal entry about something. They had a fight, LiveJournal wins. LiveJournal Man.

The topic I have chosen to talk to you about today as I eat my incredibly-bad-for-you Hostess Apple Pie and almost-as-bad Coca-Cola is my plan for the American coinage and currency system. The arguments for coinage are common sense and cost-saving to the government, the arguments for currency re-design are based on the fact that our money is butt-ugly. And here we go:

Ten more random facts:
  1. When I was about seven or eight, my bed caught on fire while I was sleeping in it. I slept through it. My sister woke me up when the fire alarm went off, but i said i couldn't leave because I had to pee. So I peed, then we left. We didn't know it was my bed at the time, but it was. I had left on my reading lamp and had smothered it between my pillow and the mattress, where it caught the bed on fire.
  2. I hate reality TV with a passion. From The Real World to Survivor to The Osbournes. Any show where people are put into awkward situations for the pleasure of the viewing audience or where they're followed around all day with cameras waiting for them to do something TV-worthy. I think it speaks very poorly for society that people enjoy this, regardless of whether or not the people signed up for it. I get embarrassed watching it, not entertained.
  3. I've only had two girlfriends in my life, where girlfriend is defined as "someone you went on a date with more than once".
  4. I once had this brilliant idea for a website where I would run for president years and years and years ahead of time. Since the first year that I would be legal to run is 2008, I chose that year. You can see what little of that site got done here. I think I should revisit that website. I think it would be funny to finance a campaign through porn banners.
  5. The 1993 Jeep Wrangler that I drive is named Julie after two girls that I had a crush on in college (at the time I got the vehicle).
  6. Two grammatical pet peeves (both of which I got from my mom) are the use of the not-a-word "irregardless" and calling a Canada Goose by the name Canadian Goose.
  7. I have three sisters and one brother:
    • Becky is 16.5 years older than me and is a librarian at an elementary school in west Michigan.
    • Linda is 15 years older than me and is a first grade teacher in Wyoming.
    • Barb is 13.5 years older than me and is also a first grade teacher in Wyoming, though a good four hour drive from Linda.
    • Mike is 4 years older than me and manages a Kum-and-Go gas station in Wyoming (a good two hours from either sister).
  8. I am pretty sure that I was a mistake baby, but I never felt unloved or unwanted or anything. My sister Becky says that if I had been born first, I would have been an only child.
  9. I have a very vivid memory of falling off a top bunk-bed while pointing at the pinking shears I wanted my brother to get me. Apparently it never happened, though.
  10. One bad day when I was probably about ten, I fell out of a tree and twisted my ankle pretty badly. To make me feel better, my parents decided to take the family out for dinner somewhere, and when I got in the car, my mom slammed my fingers in the car door. We still went to dinner, and I ate while holding a baggie full of ice to my sore fingers and trying not to move my ankle.

Apparently this is called The Friday Five
  1. Where were you born (city, state or just country?) - Reed City, Michigan
  2. What is your favorite number? - 13, because my birthday is on the 13th.
  3. Vanilla or Chocolate? - Could you be a little more specific? If we're talking ice-cream, it's usually chocolate.
  4. What section of the bookstore would you be found in? - Usually you'll find me wandering all over, six or seven times.
  5. What kind of mattress do you have on your bed?? - A queen-sized one that's kinda uncomfortable.
