I love bridge. Bridge is fun.
Aug. 17th, 2009 01:54 pmIf your opponent opens 1NT, but your hand doesn't have no-trump distribution, you have a few options:
If you don't have 6 high-card points, just pass.
If you have a 5-card major (or two), use a Jacoby Transfer, which is not a way to get a free bus ride.
If you have two 4-card majors, use the Staymen convention (which is not like the Shriners of the botanical world) to ask your partner for a 4-card major of his own.
There are probably things I'm forgetting.
