Booford's emergency visit
May. 22nd, 2009 11:56 amBooford scared the bejesus out of us this morning. He hopped up into bed around 7:30 like normal, but then was wriggling around a bit. We tried to make him get up and move, but he wouldn't. He didn't want to get up at all. It was like he was paralyzed. He was drooling a lot, even for him. It was scary scary shit.
So we took him to the emergency vet. They eventually (it seemed like it took forever) came and told us that he was doing better and walking around. They didn't give him any meds or anything; he just got better with time (way quicker than the vet expected). They said that the didn't think it was a stroke or anything like that. The only place he showed signs of pain was his neck, so they thought that he tweaked his neck and was in such pain that he just shut down.
So we'll have to rest him and keep an eye on him. He'll have pain meds, which will help. We're not allowed to walk him for two weeks which he will HATE. He may have a bulging or slipped disc, and maybe meningitis but that's very unlikely. Probably he just needs to rest and he'll be fine. Which is good, because we love our Booford a LOT. A lot a lot.
