Signing Hank
Jan. 28th, 2009 01:36 pmSo, The Red Wings signed Henrik Zetterberg to a twelve year contract for the incredibly cheap price of $6million/year. This is good. His girlfriend Emma Andersson was at the press conference, too, and it's always nice to see her (because she's super-hot).
This leaves the Wings in another cap crunch for next year, with only 6 million or so left to sign Franzen, Hudler, Samuelsson, and Hossa (who, let's face it, isn't coming back). Franzen and Hudler are the ones to sign there.
As much as it pains me to say this, I'd like to see Draper and Maltby retire, and Chelios, too. I like 'em all, but there are just too many players lingering in Grand Rapids that need some ice time. Specifically: Ericsson, Leino, Helm, Abdelkader...
I wonder what Lidstrom will sign for when he's unrestricted at the end of next season. If he decides to come back, I bet he low-balls himself into the 3-4 million range to free up cap space. He deserves $10M or more. Anyway, we'll see. I'm always amazed how many players are willing to take a boatload less money to play for The Wings. Things look good for years to come.
And I hope that the three of you who know what the hell I am talking about enjoyed this post. :)
