Work is starting to get to me. It's been a long week starting 4am on Sunday to go to Philly and Providence, and ending 10:30pm last night when I got home from Birmingham Alabama. I did get to spend one night at home during that time, but that's not enough.
Next week will suck, too. Late Monday I get to LAX, then two gigs on Tuesday PLUS a flight up to San Francisco AND a two hour drive after that. Then two more gigs on Wednesday and finally a flight home on Thursday morning.
Some people think business travel is glamorous. It is not. It is tiring and it keeps you away from the ones you love and the responsibilities you have. It fucks with your sleep and and your health. There are benefits, mostly in frequent flier miles and amenities, but they don't really make up for it.
Also, let's not forget, that it doesn't just fuck with my life. It makes things harder for Susan, too, since she has to take care of the animals and the house by herself and can't take a day off to enjoy herself with friends or relax. I'm sorry, Monkey. I love you.
It could always be worse, and someday when we have the chance to enjoy my 400,000+ frequent flier miles, maybe we'll think it was worth it.
