Tomorrow, Q and I go to the middle-of-nowhere IL to pick up our new puppy (and by puppy, I mean five-year-old dog). He is a bloodhound named Booford* and he was found wandering around on his own a few months back in southern Indiana. I can't blame him, because if I lived in Indiana, I'd look for a way out, too. We met him last Sunday and he is very sweet and gentle and floppy-faced and we love him. He also LOVES attention and snuggling. Very much a giant lap dog. There is some concern about how well he and Spike, our 12-year-old minpin/chihuahua, will get along, but I think they'll be fine (eventually). I don't suspect that he'll care about the cats in the least.
Here is a picture of him from the rescue site:

*Booford is the best name ever for a bloodhound. My advice to anyone thinking of starting a rescue is to give your animals awesome names, like Booford or Moo-Cow or Steve.
