Jun. 10th, 2007 03:35 amWe had a little get-together and boy howdy are we tired. I got up at 9-ish and cooked and cooked all day. All the food was good, but I'm particularly proud of my Carolina-style pulled pork. I made too much of that (the rule of the day was apparently to make too much food). I hickory-smoked two 6-pound picnic hams for about six or seven hours. The first one was enough to feed everyone, so the second one (which turned out even better) got put in our freezer for future use.
In addition, we also made queso fundido, orange-yogurt cakes, orange frozen yogurt, grilled veggie antipasto salad, roasted corn salad, cole slaw, goat cheese / pinenut / salsa appetizer*, shortbread, sangria, and the suprisingly interesting Bacon-and-Tang bars.
Thanks to everyone who came, with extra thanks to Nancy and Erica for bringing even more food, Nancy and Paul for bringing supplies, and Nancy and Paul again for helping teach new people new games.
*it's super-delicious and super easy-to-make. Recipe here.
