First, let me say that I love NBC's on Thursday night. All four comedy shows (I still hate ER) are in my top six of seven shows on TV. In the order that I like them, they are:

My Name is Earl - It's a heartwarming show, it a weird way. I liked last season better (and this season's 'Cops' episode was pretty awful), but it's still on top.
Scrubs - It took dvds of the first seasons to get me into this show (thanks Pants!), but it's one of my favorites.
The Office - It's still hard for me to watch, because I can't handle watching even fake embarrassment, but it's funny and well-written.
30 Rock - I like it a little more every time I watch it. It's really quite good.

(FTR, other shows in my top-tier are House, Rome, Identity (game show), Mythbusters... I'm not sure if there are any other episodic shows still on that I like a lot. I like Survivorman, but I'm not even sure that there are any more episodes in the series. I've seen seven of the ten listed on the website, and it seems like they just keep re-airing the same ones. (Looking in various places, I see that there is going to be a season two.)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaanyway, what I really wanted to talk about is last week's Scrubs, which was a musical episode. I liked the way the worked the reason it was a musical into the plot (the patient had a condition where everything she or the doctors said came out as singing). I watched the episode five times (thanks, DVR!) and I constantly have the songs stuck in my head. And because you care, here is a list of the songs in my order of preference:

  • Dominican Tango
  • "You'll have to face the future when the truth comes out"
  • We're Gonna Miss You Carla
  • You're Going to be Okay
  • Everything Comes Down to Poo
  • Welcome to Sacred Heart
  • Dr. Cox hates J.D.
  • Guy Love
  • Friends Forever

I know that four of the songs were written by the guys who did Avenue Q (which I now really really want to see), but I don't know which ones.

Aaaaaaaand that's enough bullshit for today. GO BEARS!

I have to go to Jefferson City, MO, in two weeks to teach a class to some of our customers. There's one Mon-Tue class and one Thu-Fri class. I get Wednesday off to explore the greater Jefferson City area, apparently.

Of course, the real fun of this is that since I teach on Monday, i have to travel on Sunday. SUPER BOWL SUNDAY. Remind me to quit my job before then. Not surprisingly, he's a Patriots fan (the company's HQ where he works is in Massachusetts). Bitter, bitter Patriots fans; if they can't have fun, NO ONE CAN.

Last night I made Indian food for the first time. A chicken dish with a saffron sauce and a potato-and-spinach dish. Both were good, but the chicken was especially good. It was a bit spicy, but not bad. Even The Q liked it, and she doesn't do spicy. I have to say, though, that her spicy tolerance is improving because I've been slowly upping the heat in certain dishes on her. We also had some pretty spicy Buffalo Wings last week which she handled well. My plan is working.

Hint for the day: If you've just chopped jalepeno peppers, wash your hands well BEFORE you go take a pee. TRUST ME.

No, I'm not from Buffalo and have only had "official" Buffalo wings a few times, but IMHO the best hot wings are just plain chicken wing parts (NOT breaded, grr), deep-fried (NOT BAKED) until they're crispy and delicious, with a sauce made by simply melting butter and adding the appropriate amount of Frank's RedHot™ sauce (NOT ANY OTHER BRAND) to it. For my money, simple is better. I also like tossing the fried wings with Try-Me Tiger Sauce™, but that might be due to the fact that I LOVE Tiger Sauce.

GO BEARS!
