Beef, Teeth, and Games
Jun. 5th, 2006 03:14 pmI made dinner for Susan on Friday and, as I like to do, I tried something new. I had recently watched the Good Eats Episodes "Tender is the Loin (Parts 1 and 2)", so I went to Sam's and bought a whole beef tenderloin and broke it down. I didn't do a great job of butchering it, but I did a good enough job, I suppose. With that tenderloin I made carpaccio (which didn't turn out great due to the fact that I couldn't really pound it flat enough) and a roasted, erm, roast filled with blue cheese. It was pretty good. I look forward to getting another tenderloin and trying it again sometime (though I still have plenty left from the first.
I have a bad tooth and it's been hurting like the dickens the last couple of days. I have dentist-aphobia, so it's particularly aggravating. I also have somewhat crappy dental insurance, so whatever they're going to do is probably going to cost me a bit. It's probably best that I take care of it this week, though, because it's not going to get any better on its own. Well, I suppose EVENTUALLY it'd get better on it's own by falling out altogether and such, but I probably shouldn't wait for that to happen. SUCK IT UP, WIMP-BOY!
Games are fun. Last night, Nancy, Paul, Susan and I played for a few hours. We played a game of Tichu that we aborted because the rules weren't terribly good, then moved on to a game of Puerto Rico where I got clobbered, and then a game of San Juan where I eked out a win at the end. Fun fun fun. Susan and I are still considering going to the Origins Game Convention in Columbus at the end of the month. It'd also give me the opportunity to see my Columbus friends that I haven't seen for too long.
Susan is wonderful. I love her like tomatoes love basil.
