markjwilder: (Hippo!)
Spent the weekend alternately vegging and cleaning my apartment. Man I have a lot of laundry. Pretty much everything I own needs to be laundered. Looks like me and the Laundromat a couple nights this week. Maybe I'll try drop-off service.

The hardest part is cleaning up after the baaaaaaby hippo that I bought for Kimmerly. They weren't supposed to deliver it until Thursday.

I do like to keep up to date on the "Piano Man" of Britain. He was found washed ashore wearing a black suit with no ID, and he won't talk to people or write anything. The only clue is that he plays classical piano. First, I hope when he comes to, he's not further traumatised by the fact that they linked him with that crappy Billy Joel song. I also read one article that said that he was a good piano player, but not great. Well let's conk Rachmanninoff in the melon and see if his skill maintain. I'm just saying.

Edited to add: The Yahoo slideshow on the story has 13 pictures. Nine are one fuzzy picture of the guy curled up on his bed, looking at the camera and nibbling his thumb. Three are the guy standing outdoors holding a bunch of musical paper. The last is of David Helfgott (the guy who inspired Shine), because he's crazy and plays the piano, too.

I need to go to NYC and see Glengarry Glen Ross. First off, it's an excellent play. Secondly, it has Alan Alda and Jeffrey Tambor and Liev Schrieber and Gordon Clapp (Medavoy on NYPD Blue) and TOM WOPAT! C'mon, that's gotta be good.

I commissioned my friend [livejournal.com profile] cheeseburger to paint me some living room decoration. I have two of the three panels, so I hung 'em up today. Here's what they look like:

You can click any of the pics to get a HUGE version of them to gander at.

When the third one arrives, I'll probably cut down the gap between the paintings to just an inch or two. I should also paint that wall so that they pop out more.
