May. 12th, 2005 11:48 pmMy purchases of today:
Target
Cell phone charger
Power adapters (for using foreign plugs with my shit)
Griffen iTrip (plays iPod over radio)*
A C2 (by Coca-Cola)
Compressed air**
Something else that eludes me? I thought I bought six things...
Barnes & Noble (an inferior store to Borders)***
The Life Aquatic 2-dvd set.
Breakfast at Tiffany's by Tru Capote
New Introductory Photography Course by John Hedgecoe
Photography Basics by John Hedgecoe
Digital Zoom Camera Handbook by Rob Sheppard
Paint Shop Pro 8 in Easy Steps by Mr. Barnes and Mr. Noble.
*Here's the thing about the iTrip. They're sorta useless in Chicago, as we have too few empty frequencies. But I travel a lot, so it'll be useful when I'm in a rental. It's a pretty nifty device. I think it'd be cool to amplify the frequency and put a bumper sticker on my car that says "listen to what I'm listening to on my iPod on 89.7!"
** This week I've been visiting plants that make foam padding for carpets and such. They shred foam (from many sources) and add a binder to make these huge cylinders (maybe 6' diameter, 6' long) and then put it on the machine my customer builds that essentially peels it into a 1/2" (or 1/4" or 3/8" or whatever) thick pad. The process requires that the cutting blade is sharp sharp sharp so that the foam isn't shredded. This means that the blades are constantly being sharpened. That means that there are little bits of metal dust every. They got all over my computer. That sucks. It's also a long story to say "I got the air to blow away metal dust off my computer", but you would have asked for the story had I just typed that, so now you have the story. And you also have the explanation of why I included the story instead of just telling the story and letting you figure it out from there. However, I think you'll agree, that the explanation makes the story even better, although this bullshit I'm typing now does absolutely nothing for the story, so I should stop. Which I now shall.
***Every Barnes & Noble I've ever been to is SWARMING with books about freemasonry, usually in the remaindered section. It's weird.
