Dec. 10th, 2004 01:37 pmI think I'm a little OCD with the game kit thing. I got a few more games: Pass the Pigs, Milles Bornes, and then just some poker dice and some regular "D&D" polyhedral dice, just to have 'em. Oh, and a bowling dice game called Spare Time that looks like it has no strategy whatsoever. Oh, and two more decks of playing cards. I also threw a small bag of rubber bands in there because they're very handy.
So now the kit is packed again. Mille Bornes was the hardest because it's got oversize cards (the size of playing cards... many games are a bit thinner) and it's harder to find storage for those. There a bit of wasted space right now so I'm going to have to look once more for a good container, or possibly make my own somehow. Anyway, the game kit's got almost everything I could want in it, except for maybe some more Munchkin expansions when the time is right (I have room for one more expansion right now, I think).
The local game store I went to (Gamer's Paradise in Century Center) had poker chip sets of 300 (in a case) for $99, whereas I got 500 (+ case) for $52 shipped. Plus mine look nicer. So I am happy with that deal. If you want poker chips, I think you can do well on eBay if you work at it a little. Just remember that the shipping charges will run you $20 or more.
I saw a flier that said that one of my favorite poker players, Annie Duke, was making an appearance today at the Watertower Place store from noon until two. So she's there right now. I bet Nancy would have gone to see her. She (Annie Duke, not Nancy) would be in my celebrity harem except (a) she intimidates me mightily, and (b) a couple of anecdotes I've read about her make her sound a bit wacky, even by my low standards. Although I could probably get over the wacky. I bet we wouldn't get along well, although she's cute, although she'd likely hate me for saying that. Two althoughs in one sentence. Take that, grammar nazis!
