Happy birthday, DaerlynJessicaDaerDear. I'm glad I got to meet you a couple months ago. I like you a bunch.

This take-home test that the psychologist gave me is ridiculous. It's all "finish the sentence" stuff. It's statements like "Getting ahead __________", or "Too many people ________", or "I suffer _________". There are fifty-five of these fuckers. I am having a hard time with the one "There is hardly __________" because I want to finish it "any clam juice in Clamato™."

Crap. There's a whooping cough outbreak that has it Chicago. I know that one of bristlesageNancy's co-workers caught it, too. I've had a cough for a few weeks, but I attributed it to smoking. Maybe there's something more...

I wish I were stupid. Life is easier if you're stupid.

I got a job offer that would be about a 10% increase. Internal debate reigns.

POTENTIAL JOB ANALYSIS

PROS:
The opportunity to do something new.
The opportunity for a fresh start (in job and life).
More money.
Working on my own a lot (also a CON if I'm not careful).
Travel (not so much that it should be a CON)
More responsibility, opportunity to prove myself.
Boss seems like a good guy; freedom, but provides support when needed.
Potential (likely) for training trip to Germany.
Gut feeling says to take it.

NEUTRAL:
Benefits are roughly the same, from what I can tell (I need to find out more from the potential. They told me about profit-sharing, but not retirement.).
Both companies have excellent products from what I can tell.
Both companies are financially stable.

CONS:
I like a lot of the people I work with.
I'm at the beginning of "hitting my stride" in my new position.
There's safety in staying put.
Current job is close to my girlfriend's job.
added: Potential 401k loan hassles... Could end up taking a big monetary hit.

I'll update as I think of more. Quantity of pros/cons is not a complete reflection of the decision. Comments/questions welcome.

Another potential snag in the new job... I have a 401(k) loan outstanding. Based on some research on what is generally the case (it can vary from company to company), I have to repay it in 60 days (which I will NOT be able to do) or I have to pay taxes on it PLUS a 10% penalty. This will probably be ~$3000.
