For those that didn't know...

Vic Tayback played Mel, the cook on Alice. Linda Lavin played Alice. Polly Holliday played Flo. Some other chick played Vera. Art Carney was on the show once, when Mel was trying to get him to plug his Chili con Carne (get it?). Eileen Ryan played Granny, but that was on The Beverly Hillbillies. I don't know if Art Carney was ever on that show or not.



Vic Tayback is a funny celebrity to bring up. Also funny to mention are John Stamos, George Takai, Ernest Borgnine, Ruth Buzzy, Mel Torme, Jerry Mathers, Bonnie Franklin, and Abe Vagoda. It is not funny, however, to mention Jerry Lewis, unless it's in some context about France or telethons. Also not funny out of context are Desi Arnez, Richard Moll, Frank Sinatra, Picasso, Cher, Madonna, Larry Bird, or Susan Anton. Okay, Susan Anton is kinda funny. Morgan Fairchild is funny, but only because of John Lovitz's character Joey Flanagan on SNL.

I have finished my seventh book of the year, a collection of short stories by Michael Chabon called Werewolves in Their Youth. My next book will be Even Cowgirls Get the Blues by Vic Tayback Tom Robbins.

I'm sleepy, but I'mma go see Spartan tonight. I loves me some Mamet, I do.
