Poker up front...

Chicago People:

Are any of you interested in having a no-limit Hold'Em Poker Tournament some time soon? I'm thinking that everyone could buy in for $10 (meaning that you can't lose more than $10, so it's not an expensive night) and we could just play until someone has all the chips, and then they win all the money (or we could do a 75/25 split). I don't think any of us play poker that much, so it's not like anyone would have a big advantage. I think it would be a blast.

Also: Hold'Em is REALLY easy to learn, and I'll be happy to come up with a strategy guide for people. I can provide chips (poker, not potato) and cards, but I don't have the facilities for all those people, really.

Anyone interested? I think it'd be a fun night.

Because you care...

The following are the LJ friends I've known the longest::

1. barbiegail and maxhemlock - I met them (I assume) in June of 1972 when I was born. They're my sister and brother, respectively.


2. kateiojd - I met her in 1984, a month or two after she was born. She's my first niece (barbiegail's daughter)


3. teehmar - Yeah, I'm not surprised you've never heard of him. He never posts. But he's my best friend from college and I've known him since 1990.


4. shannystalker - Teehmar's wife. Met her, um, some time in the mid-90's.


5. stacis - The second Doper* I ever met, and the first one don't come 'round no more. It was 1999, I think. I met valerieblaise at the same fest, and maybe some others I'm not thinking of right now.

*Many of my LJ friends I knew originally thought the Straight Dope Message Board. People who frequent these boards are often called "Dopers". It's got nothing to do with drugs.

My plans.

I know what you're thinking. "I like JoeyMark and I wonder what his plans are for the next few days. Maybe I can somehow catch up with him." Well, I'm glad that you secretly thought that:

• Wednesday the 14th: - I'mma go see In America and The Company at the Landmark theater in Highland Park, IL. You're all invited.


• Thursday the 15th: - I'mma go see Kelly Hogan at The Hideout in Chicago. Currently there is no one going with me, but if someone would like to, they should tell me.


• Friday the 16th: - I'm dancing at the local Chicago male strip joint The Sausage Factory on their annual "Vienna Night". Also, I'm going to finally put together my Beginner's Guide to Ween for passenger86.


• Saturday the 17th: - Dinner with my buddy Tish and a night of rocking at The Lyons Den to the sounds of the Ghettobillies. CHICAGO PEOPLE SHOULD BE THERE! stacis will be there, valerieblaise will be there. My friend Tish will be there with a lot of friends. The rest of you should come, too. Only $5 cover.


• Sunday the 18th: - Breakfast, relaxation, and Pete Special at The Lyons Den.
