Okay, I ran a little contest in the photo captioning community that I run (captionkangaroo). I need to do a poll to determine the winner, and since the community's not paid, I guess I'll have to do it here. Anyone can vote, but only the votes of community members will count for the prize.

T-Minus 54 Days.

Okay, things are going pretty well on the exciting front: I'm paying off the balance of my current 401(k) loan today so I can take another one out. So that means I'll have my new (used) car by the end of the month if things go well...

I also confirmed that Oct. 31 is when my lease expires, so I'm actively searching for a place in the city of Chicago to move to. Very exciting. Mostly I'm looking in the Ravenswood neighborhood, but I'm seeing a few places in other neighborhoods that also look exciting.

I'm thinking of these two events as the reinvention of my life. I'll have a new car, a new home, a lot less debt, and hopefully a whole new attitude. Must think positive. Must must must. Cannot be self-defeatist. I bought a Anthony Robbins book last week. I need to break it open and get that sleeping giant awake. Rawr? Rawr.

Other things:

If I move to the city (and I'm 94.6% sure that I will), I want an apartment that allows pets. Maybe a dog, maybe a cat. I'm more of a dog guy, buy dogs take a lot of work. I bet I can convince Kyla/Nancy to walk him every once in a while, too, though. But maybe a cat. i just want a friendly snuggly cat, not an aloof mean cat. Either way, I will get the animal from a no-kill shelter.

I think, also, that I'd like to volunteer a couple nights a week at an animal shelter. That'd be a good way to get to know the animals, too.

And maybe I'll get an in-home maid service a couple of times a month. I don't know how much they are, but it'd be good. It'd help me keep my own stuff in line, too. I know what I mean.

And drop-off laundry will be my friend.
