Stuff and Things

When I was coming out of my building today, a squirrel by the door skittered up a nearby tree. This made me want to be a squirrel. So, if Buddhists are right and there is reincarnation, I would like to be a squirrel. A flying squirrel would be even better. No responsibilities except making sure that you and your family (do squirrels have families?) are provided for, and then it's all frolicking and being skittish. I don't think it would be that bad. The next step on the road to becoming a bodhistattva. (Did I get that right, Tonya?)

After Ms. Nina Simone's death yesterday, I decided that I didn't have enough of her music. So I stopped by Borders and bought a CD of her music as well as a Chet Baker CD. I was looking for a CD by the folkish group The Bad Tanyas, too, because they were on All Things Considered and I liked 'em. Borders didn't have that CD in stock.

Today I have other new music to listen to. nymysys gave me a mix CD of hers as well as a CD by the group The Bad Plus. But right now I'm listening to a mix CD of cover songs from burnmeup. I finally got it, Beemu! Thanks!

Short-term goal: Within one week I will have finished Sirens of Titan and one other book, whichever I decide on next. Let's say that's by next Monday. Monday's a better starting point for such things.
