I was in a reading mood last night, but I left my current novel (
Henderson the Rain King, as I incessantly remind you) here at work. Ack! So instead I took the opportunity to read some short stories. I started with one that
SophieKim815 sent me from the Jan. 27th issue of
The New Yorker. It is called
Jon and is by George Saunders. It was simply great. I loved it. I searched around a little and
found it online on
The New Yorker website. I strongly recommend it. Thanks Kimmerly!
I was not tired when finished with it, so I read a couple of Poe short stories that I had not read before.
The Tell-Tale Heart and
Murders at the Rue Morgue. And I flipped around a couple of "Introduction to Literature" collections (Heath and Norton) that
vileorb lent me back when I used to see him from time to time. There are lots of short stories there for my enjoyment, so I shall be enjoying some in the near future. I need to cross-reference them with
shawnwrites' list of recommended short stories to see if I have some of them.
It's a beautiful spring day today. I still say that a cold and snowy winter makes a spring day sweeter.
