Rivers and Tides - This is a documentary about an artist named Andy Goldsworthy whose art is mostly temporary. It's hard to describe his art. He uses natural things, like stones and sticks and flowers and ice, to make forms that are designed to be carried away by the rivers and tides, or collapse in the wind, or whatever. His art is amazing, and I don't think there is any better way to see it than in moving pictures. It's really breathtaking, very zen. Most of the movie is just the artist at work, and it's fascinating to watch. Watch the trailer here (it's a German site, but I think if you click the "video ansehen" link, you'll get the trailer in RealPlayer) and if you like the art you see in the trailer then I think you'll like the movie, too. Joey gives Rivers and Tides four stars out of four and recommends it highly to fans of art and natural sculpture.

Incidentally, I am still 100% on my Lenten give-upings. No sodas, no dvds, no eBay bidding. The guitar practice is not going as well. I'm losing my calluses. Not a good thing in the guitar world.

Yay for reading, though, and yay for dramas. They're so quick to read, comparatively. I should finish Death of a Salesman tonight if I get a good chunk of time to read it... Yay for that, right? RIGHT? What's next, I wonder. I want to read Don Quixote, but I don't have a copy. Perhaps I should go to *gasp* the library.

If you're a girl, you should come hug me. Guy hugs aren't necessarily bad, don't get me wrong, but I crave girl hugs right now. Long ones, with hair-smelling and soft smiles.
