Happy Birthday Katie!

(I'm recycling entries from last year; I hope that's okay.)

In February, in this post (thanks for commenting, edwardinaEddy!), I listed my ten favorite movies of 2001 as:
  1. The Royal Tenenbaums

  2. Monster's Ball

  3. Hedwig and the Angry inch

  4. Amelie

  5. Ghost World

  6. Tape

  7. Moulin Rouge

  8. Memento

  9. Wet Hot American Summer

  10. A Beautiful Mind

If I made that list today, it would be:
  1. The Royal Tenenbaums

  2. Hedwig and the Angry Inch

  3. Moulin Rouge

  4. Amelie

  5. Gosford Park (was #14)

  6. Monster's Inc. (was #17)

  7. Wet Hot American Summer

  8. Ghost World

  9. Memento

  10. The Tailor of Panama (was #13)

It probably has something to do with how many times I've seen them.

I meant to participate in The Great Postcard Exchange of 2002™, but I was lazy and didn't get an address in in time. I have already purchased postcard stamps, however, so it'd be silly not to send some out. I will send a postcard, a kick-ass mother-fucking postcard, to anyone who wants one. Anyone. Don't be shy. I'll just need an address to send it to, and a real name would also help. I made it so that only I can see the poll answers, so your address is safe. Mwah!

I have to mention two things that I got in my mailbox today. I actually turned my computer back on just to thank:

[livejournal.com profile] javamaven sent me a wonderful postcard from Vegas. I think she sent it ages ago, but my state and ZIP code got marred and so they didn't know where to send it exactly. I was also stamped "postage due" a couple of times, though it had more than enough postage on it.

[livejournal.com profile] delphica went to a Modigliani exhibition in upstate NY and remembered that I like his art muchly. She apparently ALSO remembered that I have an art magnet collection on my fridge. So the gift she got me, a collection of Modigliani mini-magnets, was PERFECT. I love it. They're my first ever Modigliani magnets. Here they are:

Also, I got another anti-folk compilation called Call it What You Want: This is Anti-Folk on Olive Juice Records. It was much cheaper than the other one. We'll see if it's as good tomorrow at work when I get a chance to listen to it.
