Well, I'm not feeling on top of the world, but I think as of now I'll survive. It's just a sore throat, nothing I can't live with. It's still officially a WickyPants day because this wouldn't have normally kept me home from work.

I'm going to go take a shower now, then walk the dog, then go to the store to get lozenges, then get my haircut if SuperCuts takes credit cards, which I don't think they do, then go see some movies with the free passes I have. Dogtown and Z-Boys and The Importance of Being Earnest, if you care.

On the voting for the Conn Smythe trophy*, from today's Detroit Free Press:

"If the NHL abandons the 15-writer system** and goes with a show of hands in Michigan, Yzerman would win. Under this system, he also would win the governorship and ownership of the Upper Peninsula."

*The Conn Smythe trophy goes to the most valuable player in the NHL playoffs.
**Currently, the Conn Smythe is voted on by 15 writers, four each from the cities that have the finalists (in this case Detroit and Raleigh) and seven from around the country.

I felt a-okay while playing volleyball. Now i feel like holy hell again. I should just play volleyball all the time. We won 2 out of 3 games. My play was batter than last week, especially my serves. Only one bad serve in three matches and several really tough-to-return ones.

Movie reviews:
Dogtown and Z-boys - This is a documentary film about a group of southern Californian kids who became the first real "Skate punks" and save skating from obsurity in the early 70's. It did a good job of buliding the story of how a bunch of territorial surfers became guerilla skaters in the backyard swimming pools in the area. A good documentary, and one about a topic which I know little about (that's the best way). Tries a little to hard to be stylish, maybe. I'll give it 3 stars out of 4 and recommend it to those who like documentaries and/or skateboarding.

The Importance of Being Earnest - Based on the Oscar Wilde play of the same name, this film is the story of two gentlemen of Victorian England who each have alter-egos, and more specifically, girls who fall for their alter egos. It's a fun little farce with plenty of humor and plot twists. I'll give it also 3 stars out of 4 and recommend to those who liked An Ideal Husband or want to shag Colin Firth.

And that's that, isn't it?
