Tonya gave me a nice 15 second hug last night that was very thereputic. I like hugs, especially spontaneous ones.

Oh, and I've only got 75 pages left on To Kill a Mockingbird, so I might finish it in this lifetime after all. Last night it took me more than an hour to read fifty pages. The next book in line is For Whom The Bell Tolls.

I want my Harry Chapin CD again. I don't know where it is. I guess it's time to buy a new one. Maybe I shouldn't bring it to work anyway since I'm likely to sing along to it.

I also want to watch Il Postino. I need to buy the dvd, but it's unreasonably expensive. Has anyone else seen this? I think it's among my top ten all-time favorites. It kills me.

It was sunny a half-hour ago, and now it's raining cats and dogs. I think I even saw a ferret. It's kinda like my life recently. It's good to know that it'll be sunny out again, and soon.

I'm going to El Famous Burrito now and getting some tacos. They have good tomatillo sauce.

I should very much like to go see Gertrude. We saw the singer girl at The Ghettobillies show and she was cute, and as we all know that's all it takes for me. Actually, she said that Gertrude is probably breaking up and she'll be branching out on her own. I'm only putting it here so that I don't forget about it. Move along now...

Also, The Ghettobillies have this sad, pretty little song called Another Song on thier album that I'm digging very much. It's all about how they're just trying to make it as a band and it's not always easy:

Another town, another show,
Another bar, another club, just another joe
Another drink, another smoke,
Another line that's been choked so you don't know.
Another fan, another girl
Another day another night, just another world.
One more dazzling wonderful line to sing
One more broken string, one more thing to bring to the show
One more postcard, it's not that hard
One more "maybe I'll see you", one more business card
One more name is the same as one more drop of rain to the flood

We're not in it for the money, but the money'd be nice
We're not in it for the girls, but the girls are all right,
We're not in it for the drugs or the fame or the plugs or the rides,
We just do it to get by.

  1. Who is your least favorite actress? - Andie MacDowell

  2. Do you know how much money is in your wallet within 2 dollars? - Yes.

  3. How much did you weigh when you were born? - 11 lbs., 10 ounces.

  4. What's your favorite dessert? - Tiramisu.

  5. What is the first movie you saw on video? - No clue. First dvd I saw was Living Out Loud. Kinda dug it.

  6. Would you rather iron or garden? - I never do either, so what does it matter?

  7. What is more attractive to you, intelligence or sense of humor? - Must have both, at least for now. If I had to pick one, I'd take intelligence.

In other news, I think it's time I quit Netflix, which is sort of sad since I've been a member literally since the day I got my dvd player in Oct. '99 (?). I just don't watch enough movies lately to make it worthwhile. Maybe I'll just downgrade to the two-at-a-time plan.

I think I get more spam e-mail offering me office supplies (business cards, mailing labels, ink-jet cartridges) than I do for porn, which is fucked up because i spend a LOT more of my on-line time porning than i do businessing.

On Thursday, I'll be exactly twice as old as the Olsen Twins.

This just in: Oops, i was wrong. I was twice as old as them in 2000 when I turned 28 and they turned 14.

Apparently I joined Netflix in January of 2000. I've rented 206 movies from them. There are 136 more on my rental queue as of right now. There's been a HUGE drop off in my movies in 2002.

Movies I've rented )

The Red Wings won tonight's game 3-0. That means they lead the Stanley Cup Finals 3 games to 1 and they have a chance on Thursday to raise the Cup. That settles my Thursday night plans: I'll be here watching my team.

Carolina won't make it easy for them, though. I know that.

Cooking.

I grilled chicken breasts and made risotto (with lots of cheese). T'was nummy. Tonya agreed. She ate a lot... well, a lot for her anyway. I brined the chicken in a sugar-salt solution for a couple of hours and the technique worked: Although the skin was burnt, the meat itself was juicy and... yummy. :)

And Tonya has a shelf. A small shelf, but it's a start. I've offered her a larger shelf if she so desires it.

Update: She now has another shelf. I hope she appreciates how much work it required. I had to take all of my thrown-together crap and throw it together on a different shelf.

Also, she's washing some stuff. My bathroom is filled with hung-up girl clothes. I think if you took all of the fabric from all of her stuff, you MIGHT be able to make me a pair of pants. MAYBE. And most of that material comes from her bra-cups.

No reading tonight. Dicked around on the internet. And thus my day of entries (this is #14!) ends.
