Oh. My. God. Short Track Speed-Skating RELAY. This is a cool sport! It's crazy with the exchanges. It's chaos.

It's no curling, but still...

Tristan Gale will be my wife. Or one of the other athletes will be. Even one of the 40-something curling competitors. But not that she-hulk brakeman for USA-1 two-woman bobsleigh. Hopefully Tristan. Or that speed-skater chick from Canada with the dimples. Or any of the girl hockey players.

GOD, I need a girlfriend.

I go to the vending machine for my mid-morning snack. After fighting to get it to take my dollar, I look to decide what I want. I decide that Twix sounds good. When I lean over to get my candy, I hit my head on the machine. I push open the little door and no candy. I look up to see if it's stuck or something. It's not. I'm confused and angry. Finally I decide that there must have just been an empty spot that i didn't notice. Eh, it happens. I start to walk back to my desk, and that's when it hits me. I forgot to push the buttons. You know, the buttons that tell the machine what you want.

And the Twix weren't even that good.

First, as I've said 4,782 times in the last two weeks, figure skating and all other artistically judged sports should not be in the Olympics.

That said, here is my prediction for the woman's figure skating gold: Michelle Kwan will win gold, but make some mistakes. There will be a controversy. The Russians will say that the judges are biased and complain. Americans will think they're a bunch of whiners. There will be no second gold. Or maybe Kwan will finish second and complain. It won't be without contoversy.

A female coworker was talking today about how sad she'll feel if Kwan doesn't win, especially if she wins silver again. She asked me if I would feel sad. I asked why I should feel bad for someone (a multi-millionaire at that) who is the 2nd best in the world at something. I wish *I* were the second best in the world ant something-- ANYTHING.

Oh, and happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] slvrfire and [livejournal.com profile] thinksnow. One of you will be rewarded with kissing, groping, and anal molestation, and the other with just a handshake or a high five. You two figure out who's who.

If the calls don't go our way, as with the Canadian ice skaters or Ohno's short track race where he was taken out by a falling Korean, and we get all bent out of shape and demand something be done. Controversial calls go in our favor (Russian ice dancers, Ohno's gold medal win) and we think the others are whining. The media has been half-laughing at the complaints by the South Korean and Russian teams that are threatening to pack-up and leave. I think that if they hadn't gone back and given the Canadians the gold in pairs figure skating, a lot of this wouldn't be happening.

And we wonder why the world hates us.

I'm glad the best skater won, but I don't understand the scoring. She had to back in to win even though she was the best skater. Whatever. She was behind Kwan, then all of a sudden she was ahead. Whatever again. i still say be gone with it. And take freestyle skiing/boarding and Nordic jumping with it.

Sick of me yet? Eh, it's okay. I'm probably sick of you, too.
