Feb. 12th, 2002 01:09 pmYeah, so, the nominations were announced. Pretty much as expected, with a few surprises. I'm going to have to go see Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius just so I can make an informed decision there. Too late for Training Day, though, so I guess dvd will have to do (it's released less than a week before the Oscars, i think).
Tonight, I'm going to watch Lord of the Rings again. I'll write a LJ entry about it today or tomorrow.
- Best inclusions: There were a lot of good inclusions that were expected, but a few bubble picks made good choices. Ghost World for Adapted Screenplay made me happy, and Amelie in the Art Direction and Cinematography were great picks.
- Worst inclusions: John Voight for Ali. I suspect i'll disagree with the Ethan Hawke nomination, as well. Sean Penn is one of my favorite actors, but didn't deserve this nomination. Personally I question Ridley Scott's inclusion as well. And we know that I don't think Lord of the Rings belongs in the Best Picture category, but that'll be a seperate entry later today. I'm on the fence about Ms. Kidman. The nomination for LOTR in the Best Score category is a travesty.
- Worst omissions: STEVE BUSCEMI! And where was Gene Hackman? Comedies are given no chance in the Oscars. I was also sad to see no John Cameron Mitchell in the Best Actor category or Baz Luhrman as director.
