I added two people to my friends list today that I don't know. I just used the Random LiveJournal function and up they popped. Okay, I looked at about 100 random LJ's, and these are the only two I liked. Both are women, but is anyone really surprised by that?

I added [livejournal.com profile] isnthtcrzy because she had a fun picture (it looks like Winona Ryder, but I don't know if it is), and because she used the name "Little Miss S." which is a song by Edie Brickell on my all-time favorite album, Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars. She talks about things that seem pretty much normal.

I added [livejournal.com profile] snugglebug because the very first entry i read was "Sasha just sent me pictures of naked chics wrestling in JELLO!! He's my hero!!". She also lists "Six Feet Under" as an interest, and she calls her comments "snuggles". Aw, how cute. She has 99 (!) friends, so she will NEVER notice that I added her. How sad for us both. :(

We'll see how long it takes for them to notice me. I plan to comment in their journal if it warrants it. My guess it that they will ignore me, never knowing of my voyeuristic tendencies.

Is anyone randomly looking at my journal RIGHT NOW? [cue Twilight Zone music]

I sent my family and RL friends a letter updating them on my job hunt. Since I am lazy, I've copied it below for you. i've added a few things in [brackets] as editorial comments to help you along.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since so many have asked for an update, here it is:
A couple of weeks ago I drove to Charlotte NC for an interview. It went very well. The company is Danaher Motion (formerly Warner Electric), and the job is sort-of doing what I was doing so well at Yaskawa [the bastard company that laid me the fuck off]. From there, a company in the Boston area flew me up to interview me. [wow, didn't notice this horrible grammar...] They spent all day interviewing me, and I got a really good vibe off of it. That company is Danaher Motion (formerly Pacific Scientific), and the job is exactly what I was doing at Yaskawa. I have also sent my resume to a lot of other places that don't seem to care.
So, now, here's the juicy bits [mmmmmmm, juicy bits]: the Boston job is the primary one that I am interested in. (Is that bad grammar? It ended in a preposition.) The problems are (a) Boston is expensive and I'd need to make at least 10% more just to break even [try 15%, but i don't want to worry my family too much.], and (b) they are interviewing someone from within the company for the same job. They keep putting off an offer or lack thereof, but the HR lady from there called me this morning and said that they'd let me know by tomorrow afternoon, which actually means by Thursday at the earliest.
The secondary job on my list the Charlotte one because, well, it's the only other one in the forseeable distance. Good news? Charlotte is cheap cheap cheap, and I could make about 10% less than Yaskawa and break even. And I think I will get an offer (both companies are working through the same recruiter, so they'll present offers at the same time). The bad news is that Charlotte is about a billion miles away and the job doesn't excite me all that much.
The tertiary plan is going to clown college and fourthiary plan is male prostitution, so we may have those to look forward to. [the whole primary-secondary thing was only used so that I could use the word tertiary. Then I decided to make a joke with fourthiary. I'm so clever.] I was pretty excited about the Danaher jobs after the interviews and sort-of stopped looking, but now I can see that I clearly made a mistake. Tomorrow I will call a couple of other places and send my resume out to even more places. [Tomorrow I should do all this stuff, but I probably won't. I also signed a notice to vacate on my apartment, the lease on which expires at the end of October. I will begin packing this week, even though I have no idea where I will be going.
So, if you're asking me what I hope, it's that the Boston offer will be presented and reasonable. If you're asking me what I think will happen, it'll be that you're all getting postcards from Charlotte. [Plan for the worst, hope for the best.]
Encouraging words are always appreciated. I'll update when I have something new to tell.
