So I got a little misty-eyed while watching The Muppet Movie tonight. The whole "live your dream" thing got to me. "Life's like a movie, write your own ending, keep believing, keep pretending... We've done just what we've set out to do... Thanks to the lovers, the dreamers, and you." It's a really good movie. I'm glad I bought it on dvd, even though I really don't need it at all.
Six Feet Under continues to amaze me. The show is just incredible. There are only three more episodes in the season. Then what will I do? I'll have to start going to movies on Sunday nights again. Speaking of movies, I am going to see Ghost World this week sometime. It's been getting really great reviews. and now, The Top Ten Movies Opening in the Next Month That I Want to See.
So, anyway, I had a fun week last week. I was in Brainerd, Minnesota, and caught up with a few of the Dopers in the area. I played cribbage with chique on Wednesday night, then hung with Ad Noctum for a while on Thursday night. Friday night I made it down to St. Cloud and went out with chique and some of her coworkers. We went to see a local blues band that was great and I drank a lot. I had three rum-and-Cokes with dinner, seven very large shots of El Tesoro tequila, then a couple of Captain-and-Cokes. But I didn't really feel as hammered as I should have with all that alcohol. Anyway, it was fun. On Saturday I hung at a county fair with chique, Spider Woman, and Imthjcaz. I hadn't been to a fair in years, and I forgot how fun they could be. A good portion of our time was spent figuring out how they judge dill seed so they can award the ribbons. And there were some REALLY funky-looking chickens that made me want to be a farmer. imthjckaz and I also went around yelling "AFLAC!" at the ducks. I also tried to get one of the bunnies to tell me which of his friends was the tastiest, but he wasn't talking.
There's a couple of new shows on Comedy Central. The Chris Wylde Show was more stupid than good, but I might watch it again. I'm now watching Insomniac with the hilarious Dave Attell. So far, it's great. It's about all the weird things going on in NYC after dark. And Dave Attell makes the show with his quick wit.
One more list and I am out of here:
Joey's Top Ten Breakfast Cereals
I have to give mad props to my homey Cap'n Crunch, which gets high marks for taste but poor marks for shredding the roof of my mouth as if it contained glass shards.
I'm on a hunt to find something to occupy my time instead of #straightdope chat. I need a new hobby. Things just seem different lately. It's probably me. Anyway, if you have suggestions, let me know.
