There's no place like home.
I am so ready to go home. Don't get me wrong, I love Germany a lot. But it about eight hours it will be exactly two weeks that I haven't been home. Two week that I haven't petted Booford or Moo. And, most importantly, of course, two weeks since I've seen Susan.
I'm in Hanover now, which is a bigger (but not huge) city. The city is about 600k people, the metro area is about 1.1 million. Not much smaller than Milwaukee. My hotel is right next to the soccer stadium (AWD-Arena, 49k capacity), and there is a game tonight, and right now (about noon here), you can see all the food stalls going up, TV crews arriving, etc. I have probably the best room in the hotel for watching all of that. I can also see the fan shop for Hanover 96, the local team, so I might stop by there.
And now I'm going to take a shower and head to the Hauptbahnhof, or central train station, to do some shopping. I think there's a game store somewhere in that neighborhood. I need more games!
Tomorrow the UK, Monday Chicago. If time really flies when you're having fun, then I'd best go have fun. It's all about the time flying, though.
