Random things

It was bound to happen sometime, and it happened Monday night. While playing Crokinole, I injured Q. You read that right; I injured another player while playing a table-top dexterity game. I flicked a puck a bit too hard and it skipped off of the 20-hole and clipped her right in the bottom lip. I'm sure she'll keep that incident in her pocket for use at a later date. "No, I'd love to kiss you, but my old crokinole injury is acting up".

I'm keeping a log of all the games I'm playing this year. So far that's only 4 games, so it's not like I'm lighting the world on fire, but it'll be interesting to see at the end of the year what I was up to.

Often, when I want to make conversation but have nothing to say, I'll say "monkeys like cheese". I don't think that they really do, though, probably.

I really need to start exercising on a regular basis so I don't die when I'm in my 40's.

I have a cold. We're on day two, which is a little better than day one. I'm on DayQuil, which is great medicine, but is making me a little foggy.

Yesterday, Moo was sitting in a sunbeam. The sun reflected off of her tag, and Rufus spent the morning trying to catch the nice golden reflection that swung around the room.

I made chicken soup and grilled cheese for dinner last night. The cheese that Q picked out was a chesse-ball spread with roasted red peppers, and some co-jack. I would have never thought to use a spread cheese in a grilled cheese sandwich, but it worked great. The spread gave a great flavor and the co-jack gave a nice cheesy texture. I mentioned that I would like to shake the hand of the man who first put butter to bread and (buttered) bread to hot pan, but Q said that it was probably a woman.

So I just saw the baseball hall of fame voting and saw that Cal Ripken, Jr., was voted in. Well deserved. My question is this: Why are the eight people who DIDN'T vote for his entry into the hall still allowed to vote at all? If Cal Ripken doesn't deserve it, who does?

As laserkitty rightfully pointed out a couple of weeks ago, I need to post more pictures of Moo. I still love the girl to death.

The song-of-the-month has been Reunion's "Life is a Rock (But the Radio Rolled Me)" from 1974. I'd like to hear a modern group re-do it. Barenaked Ladies, probably, since it's their style.

I had a computer problem last week where the computer rebooted itself over and over. Trying to boot it in safe mode, I saw that it tripped on "agp44.sys", which I researched and discovered was related to the video card. I put in a new video card (it used embedded video before) and it booted up just fine. And now I can play Sid Meier's Pirates, which I did until 4 in the morning last Friday. Damn those time-sucking problems. Now I'm running out of hard disk space, mostly due to copious amounts of music files and porn. I'm sure I can free up 10 gigs of each if I really need to.

Still love the Q. She's pretty awesome, after all.

P.S. In deciding what userpic to use for this post, I saw my three pics from the short animated movie "More" by Mark Osborne. It's just really really good. You can watch it in Quicktime at Osborne's site or on YouTube.
