I went to PetSmart today to get light bulbs for my little tiny ten gallon fish tank. I bought two new fish last Thursday, too many for my tank, really. Their growth will be stunted if I don't get them a bigger tank. I was looking at tanks in the store today and saw quite a few that i really really want. There was a 96-gallon with a rounded front that was gorgeous. Of course, the tank alone (not including stand) was $700. I think i will get a 46 gallon round-front tank. The whole set-up, including everything, will only be about $400. Maybe I'll have 5 fish total, and let them get really really big. There's a site that sells really high quality fish for $100-$250, maybe I'll get one. Even the juveniles there cost $40.

My Fish:
  1. Speedy: A calico ryunkin that I've had for 18 months or more. He's got beautiful fins, although today i noticed they were a little frayed. I hope he doesn't have fin rot. I will have to keep an eye on him. His body is about 2 inches top-to-bottom not including fins, and about 6 inches from his nose to the tip of his tail. He's got a dark stripe on his tail that resembles a racing stripe, hence his name.
  2. Smurvy Doopy: A little black moor that I just bought. The name comes from Esprix, who used it as a happy phrase ("How am I? I'm SMURVY DOOPY!"). This little fish is half as big as the other two in the tank, but he's very active and happy-looking. So he's Smurvy Doopy. I think I'll call him Doop for short.
  3. As Of Yet Unnamed - A red-and-white Ryunkin (much smaller than the one in the linked photo) that I just got. I haven't gotten to know him well enough to name him. He seems like a good fish, though. Bright red coloration with a nice high back. I hope I get a bigger tank soon so I can see how well he turns out when he grows.
All this reminds me of a short film I saw. Please check it out. It's called Gulp and it's on AtomFilm. I hope you all watch it. It's only seven minutes long. It's a really fun movie. Especially the song that plays over the closing credits. I love that song. I wish I had an MP3 of it.
